I am a fine art photographer from Fort Worth, Texas. And I'm a wanderer. The world is waiting to be explored and I have seized upon that. My experiences matter and have shaped my story. I am drawn to people in their own environments and all things rural! I place importance on surrounding myself with images of the real life around me, not simply 'canned art'. Life is so much better when your walls remind you where you've been and who you've been there with!!
I accept private commissions of specific subjects, and sell my images here at this site, in my Texas gallery and on HOUZZ. I love working with designers and decorators to put the final touch on their magnificent client work by providing wall decor that is sublimely perfect for their spaces.
My style is easily definable: My images are filled with color. My favorite palettes are the secondary ones- blues, yellows! As for my perspective and shooting composition, I simply cannot just shoot a picture- my compositions are developed to describe 'what something feels like, not what it looks like'. You will see a recurring notion in my images. My images are products of good dreaming- I am certain contemplating, planning and seeking the unusual perspective makes a great photograph.
We may have some things in common, here are a few background snippets about me:
I was raised in rural southeast Nebraska. My dad was a family doctor in a small town.
I have an MBA from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Go Jays!
I speak French, and also studied Russian language, including 4 years study of Russian history. ( A trip to Russia as a student ambassador years ago piqued my interest in the country, its history and its people. Who wouldn't follow up with that?:)
I am an Enron Survivor- my career started in Oil and Gas, a field I still love! I spent 15 years in the city of Houston, Texas. The collapse of my beloved company didn't scar me too badly! It gave me motivation to move on to doing what I was really meant to do. Two of my kids now work there in the same field.
We moved our family to Fort Worth and haven't looked back. I love it here, as well as all things rural, and laid back living.
I was a professional portrait photographer for 15 years. As part of a 10-year plan, while building an enormous art photography portfolio I moved to art photography, design and sales. I should have gone into design originally, but I got here as fast as I could. I retired my portrait studio in 2015.
My princess went to TCU, making me a die-hard FROG FAN.
I've chaired so many Galas as a volunteer!
My favorite cities are Austin and New Orleans and Dublin.
I am the mother of four successful and adorable children. Now it's my time. As an empty nester, (at a young age, lol) I now can focus my energy where it's always wanted to go- the world through a lens.
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say " I used everything You gave me". - Erma Bombeck
